Louisville is Kentucky’s largest city, with a population over 700,000 and a metropolitan area topping 1.2 million. Often referred to as “a big city with a small-town feel,” Louisville is consistently rated by various organizations as one of the top cities in the nation in which to live and work. 

Louisville has been listed among the “100 Best Communities For Young People” by America’s Promise Alliance for three years running. In 2007, Louisville was named one of the “Top 10 Safest Cities in America” by the Crime in Metropolitan America Report. In 2006, Entrepreneur Magazine named Louisville the “Best City for Small Business Growth,” while Homebuilder.com listed it as one of the Top 20 Best Places to Raise a Family.

WKYT-TV is the CBS & CW affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky, serving the east-central part of Kentucky. Through cable, the station also reaches much of eastern, southern & northern Kentucky. Its transmitter is located in Lexington, east of the intersection of I-75 & US 60. Its newscasts are also carried in the areas of northern Kentucky near Cincinnati on Insight Cable channel 6 weekdays @ 6 AM, noon, 5-6:30, 11 PM & weekends @ 6 & 11 PM (although some newscasts, especially @ 6 & 11 PM, may be delayed or not seen, due to sporting events carried on CBS, which are carried on WKRC-TV in that area).
